Setting the Standard in Holistic Education: Loreto College Marryatville Recognised as a 5-Star Best School 2025

This award highlights Loreto College’s focus on innovative learning programs, student wellbeing, and opportunities for leadership and personal growth.

Loreto College Marryatville has solidified its reputation as a leader in girls’ education, earning a place among Australia’s top schools in The Educator’s inaugural 5-Star Best Schools 2025 report.

The award highlights Loreto Marryatville’s sustained commitment to excellence, underpinned by its holistic approach to student development. From Early Learning to Year 12, Loreto provides a vibrant academic and co-curricular program that nurtures curiosity, creativity, leadership, and personal growth.

A key factor contributing to this recognition is Loreto College’s nationally recognised Social, Emotional and Academic Development (SEAD) Program. Designed to support student wellbeing, SEAD is embedded into the school’s culture and curriculum, offering weekly lessons, daily check-ins, and access to evidence-based resources.

The program addresses areas such as emotional regulation, identity development, respectful relationships, consent, and academic self-concept, helping students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Loreto College Marryatville Principal, Ms Kylie McCullah, says Loreto’s 5-Star Best School recognition reflects the school’s holistic approach to education:

“Our focus at Loreto College has always been to provide an education that goes beyond academics, supporting every girl to grow into an empowered, and socially conscious young woman.”

Loreto College offers a rich co-curricular program including STEM Club, Chess, Debating, Music Ensembles, Performing Arts productions, and sports such as AFLW, Netball, and Rowing, Soccer, Tennis and Cricket. Leadership opportunities span Reception to Year 12 through positions including House Captains, SRC Leaders, Social Justice and Diversity Leaders.

To support its holistic approach to learning and wellbeing, Loreto College Marryatville offers state-of-the-art facilities, including the immersive VR Lumination Learning Lab, a Performing Arts Centre with professional theatre, modern Science Laboratories, and purpose-built STEM spaces. Outdoor learning areas, Indigenous and heritage gardens, and newly refurbished boarding facilities further enrich the student experience.

Loreto College also leads with forward-looking initiatives in sustainability and inclusion. With a commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2030, it advances sustainability through solar generation, waste reduction, and environmental restoration. While its Reconciliation Action Plan strengthens engagement with First Nations histories and cultures.

“Being named a 5-Star Best School reflects not only the strength of our programs, but the collective commitment of our staff, students, and families to nurturing excellence, wellbeing, and leadership at every stage of a girl’s journey,” says Ms McCullah.

This 5-Star Best School recognition reflects Loreto College Marryatville’s commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and capable young women. Rooted in the values of Mary Ward, the founder of Loreto schools worldwide, Loreto College continues to set the standard for innovative, inclusive, and future-focused education.
